GRASSROOTS AND LIVE OAKS
A daily walk with Mary Ruth in Brazoria County

Hello, I'm Mary Ruth Rhodenbaugh of Wild Peach, Texas. My grandfather and father were both county commsissioners in Brazoria County. I want to follow in their footsteps and represent the people of precinct 4 on Commissioners Court. Join me here for my daily campaign observations, announcements and ramblings. Let's make our county as good for everyone, every day, as it was for me growing up here in the place where Texas began...

Sunday morning

Mealtime around here is a lengthy process. Today there was only time for cereal before church. So, for lunch we are having hash and eggs with biscuits and strawberry preserves. Growing up, this was my favorite breakfast. (Sometimes we had fig preserves…..they never lasted long around our house.) Daddy prepared it on the day I left for college, the day I returned from college and the day I got married.
Did I think about him as I was cooking? Yes. He was whispering the instructions in my ear.
I asked Mama about her breakfast and she said, “We like it.” Indeed, we do.
When we finish delivering signs this afternoon, I am going to light the fire in the fireplace. I have everything laid in place……Daddy taught me how to do that, too. I hope mine catches like his did and flames right up. I plan to enjoy it until the final embers in the morning.
I hope you are having a happy, healthy, peaceful day.
