A daily walk with Mary Ruth in Brazoria County

Hello, I'm Mary Ruth Rhodenbaugh of Wild Peach, Texas. My grandfather and father were both county commsissioners in Brazoria County. I want to follow in their footsteps and represent the people of precinct 4 on Commissioners Court. Join me here for my daily campaign observations, announcements and ramblings. Let's make our county as good for everyone, every day, as it was for me growing up here in the place where Texas began...

The San Bernard River is very close to my heart.

I learned to swim at the Blacks Ferry crossing, skied day in and day out near Churchill as a teenager and had a seafood restaurant at the old Franklin Fishing Camp late 60s, early 70s.

Canoeing from the FM1301 crossing to the Phillips dam is an enchanting experience I have all too seldom.

Many days have been spent playing, fishing, crabbing and enjoying the solitude of “the river”.

Times have changed, but the waterway is still one of the most serene and prettiest in Texas.

Let’s keep it that way.

Good luck, Friends of the River San Bernard.
